Disc Golf (Big Walnut Sports Park)

This permanent course, created in 2014, offers mostly flat and moderately wooded terrain.  If you want to make a weekend of it, there are five other permanent courses within 20 miles.

Big Walnut Sports Park is basically a sampler pack of disc golf holes.

The course opens with a 12-foot-wide, 190’ tunnel shot before letting you really stretch your arm. The layout is well-balanced in regard to both forehand and backhand shots. The wooded holes require some tight lines. Holes 2-7 play back and forth along the perimeter of an open field. Holes 13-19 play through the woods. The pars on holes 3, 5, 6, and 12 are pretty forgiving.

The sports park offers plenty of parking and different options for starting holes. Park by the maintenance shed near the Hole 5 basket or the softball fields near the Hole 12 tee if you prefer. Soccer fields near the maintenance shed provide a good area to warm up. There’s no practice basket, but many use Hole 17. Both port-o-lets and permanent restrooms are easily found on this course that takes about an hour in solo play.
