With more land in protected nature preserves than any other county in Indiana, Putnam is a second home to trail lovers, cyclists, campers, and explorers of all types. Hike through abandoned limestone quarries, bike the National Road Heritage Trail, fish the protected wildlife ponds, or camp at Lieber State Recreation Area.     To help fund Putnam County’s outdoor recreation goals in perpetuity, Friends of the Park has a five-year goal to end 2026 with at least $500,000 in its endowment. Recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, Friends of the Park provides a tax deduction on all gifts. Please consider supporting the county by joining this growing team.
