The talents of the members of Putnam Parks & Pathways extend far beyond developing trails. Our group has leveraged local arts organizations such as the Putnam County Mural Project to begin introducing public art to the outdoor recreational space, creating unique and vibrant areas around the county.
Birding, cycling, hiking, and even local grant opportunities all exist in the realm of “Education” when speaking of Putnam Parks & Pathways. On a monthly basis we host educational tours of natural areas, we provide grants for teachers in the local community, and we work with the Indiana DNR to host additional programming.
From 5K’s in the park to 60-mile Cycling treks through the county, Putnam Parks & Pathways host a wide array of events and even provides sponsorships and support for other local events taking place in a park or nature preserve, or in benefit or support of organizations that contribute to outdoor recreation efforts.
Expansion comes in a variety of forms, whether it is trail planning and improvement, new trails being created, additional acreage added to existing parks, or in some rare cases completely new nature preserves or parks being created. Putnam Parks & Pathways has a variety of partners to help us expand outdoor recreation opportunities through each of these lenses.
