Pedal Putnam
Registration has already begun for the Mural Metric, Pedal Putnam 2025. Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 21, 2025, starting at 8 a.m.
Pedal Putnam is a celebration of cycling and the growing cycling-scene in Putnam County – including beautiful country roads, challenging hills, stunning lake views, and murals galore! With a metric century (62 miles), a 40 mile, and 15 mile route, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to complete your first gran fondo, race against the best, or get in some great training miles before the Dust Bowl or RAIN, Pedal Putnam is where it’s at.
We are thrilled that Pedal Putnam community has grown to such heights. Last year, we had our largest field yet, including strong women riders from V3 Endurance, Indy Momentum Divas and J’s Women’s biking teams. We were also honored to have athletes from Thunder Adaptive on the start line – a cycling team with those facing physical disabilities. Pedal Putnam believes every athlete and every type of biker should have the chance to ride so don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and join us!

As the Mural Metric continues to grow, so to do the needs for community participation and contributions. Dozens of volunteers join forces to manage aid stations, set up directional signage, and assist riders. If you are interested in joining the cause this year, please consider emailing us at [email protected].
Financial contributions also play an important part of Putnam County’s largest outdoor recreation event. In addition to the nearly 200 riders, hundreds more flood the streets of downtown Greencastle during THE BIKE PARTY. Your participation goes a little bit further in 2025. Our event has partnered with Friends of the Park of Putnam County, Inc. (FOTP), a local 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the development and sustainability of outdoor recreation in Putnam County. Over the past few years, Friends has been involved in several projects, including the Putnam County Mural Project, Hamrick Station trail expansion, and the lighting of Robe-Ann Park for the Winter Wonderland Lights Festival.
FOTP is on a mission to create a $500,000 endowment for the county to leverage. To that end, it will receive a portion of the revenue generated from this event. In the coming years, this funding will be used to purchase land for trail and park development, generate additional outdoor events, and generally support the growing County Parks Board.
