Big Walnut Sports Park

Big Walnut Sports Park includes 14 soccer fields, three little league baseball diamonds, three girls softball diamonds, an adult slow-pitch softball diamond, and an NCAA/Babe Ruth baseball diamond.  Several of the fields are ADA compliant and lighted for evening use.

East of Greencastle, just south of State Road 240 at 1562 South County Road 250 East, Big Walnut is one of four city parks, and admission is free.  The facility includes the Keith Carr Basketball Court, the Joanne Haymaker Pine Grove, a wildflower and butterfly garden, three picnic shelters, a dog park, a playground, a 1.28-mile Loop Trail – a 10-foot-wide asphalt trail paved around the perimeter of the Park, the route has no elevation gain, is rated as easy and provides a connection with the Greencastle-to-Fillmore section of the People Pathways/Vandalia Trail – and a 19-hole disc golf course through rolling hills and woods.  The disc golf course is open year-round, free-of-charge and home to considerable programming, including Doubles Disc Golf Nights – Wednesdays in June, A Mid-Summer Night Fling, a Glow-Throw Disc Golf Tournament, and events during National [Disc] Golf Lover’s Day.
