Pine Bluff Covered Bridge

One of the longest bridges in the county at 233’, Pine Bluff Covered Bridge is located in the heart of the Big Walnut Natural Area. Constructed by Joseph A. Britton, who also built the nearby Rolling Stone and Cornstalk covered bridges and is one of Indiana’s most prolific covered bridge builders, this structure was built in 1915 and is listed on the register of the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges. It is an excellent example of the Howe truss, patented in 1840 by William Howe of Massachusetts, and maintains much of its historic integrity.
