A.I.M.

Athletes from across the county converge upon Greencastle for this annual Slingshot Competition hosted at Jaycee Park. An up-and-coming sport, Putnam County is positioned to be the state, and potentially country, leader for catapults. Two woods courses, a speed shoot, training sessions, and plenty of food and fun round out this weekend-long event.

PEDAL PUTNAM

An event that is putting Putnam County on the cycling map of Indiana. Growing for its fourth year, Pedal Putnam saw nearly 200 riders in 2024 with an anticipated 250 in 2025. A Friends of the Park fundraiser, Pedal Putnam was responsible for a $13,000 contribution to the outdoor recreation initiative last year, a major bonus for an already incredible event.

VULTURE VISTA ULTRA-MARATHON

Putting their mettle to the test, 60 athletes competed in the first inaugural Vulture Vista last July. Two race options, a 6-hour and 12-hour, led runners along a 4.5-mile trail around the DePauw Nature Park. With plans to add a wider variety of race lengths in the coming years, Vulture is for both hardcore ultra-runners and beginners looking to push their limits.
